The fungus which creates Athlete foot can be discovered on flooring and in socks and clothing. The fungus can be spread from person to person by physical contact with these objects. However, without due breeding situations (a close, wettish environment), the fungus will not affect the skin. Up to 70% of the people will have athletes foot at some time amid their lifetime.
The athletes foot fungus or Tinea Pedis is the similar fungus which creates onychomycosis, or toenail fungal infections. In truth, there is not just one fungus which can do this, though a couple of species are blamed for most infections. A group of fungi, jointly called as dermatophytes, is responsible for fungal infection of the hair, nails, and skin.
It's customary for fungus which has invaded the toenails to spread to the skin, or for it to spread in the reverse direction - from the skin to the nails! Odds are, if you get athlete's foot fungus and fungal toenails, the same fungus is creating the trouble in both places. And since it is affecting the skin, it is actually one of the routine types of foot fungus - the dermatophytes. There are some other environmental fungi which occasionally infect the nails, but they do not raid the skin.
The nice thing about this is, in many cases, you can consider both athletes foot fungus (Tinea Pedis) and nail fungus with the same remedy. In general, the fungus remedies don't differentiate between various types of foot fungus, operating on the basis that what kills one will kill all! With some remedies you may need to make compromise; for example, applying pure Tea tree oil may be fine for nails, but you might have a headache with skin sensitivity if you don't dilute it with a carrier oil before putting it to your skin. Likewise, if you're using hydrogen peroxide for foot fungus, spraying on the skin is perhaps ok, but to penetrate an infected toenail, you'll need to soak.
The simple choices will be treatments which will work for both types of foot fungus - the athletes foot fungus (Tinea Pedis) and the nail infection, with one application. Penetration of the nail by the remedy is always a headache, so pick a soaking method, which will tender the nail, or an oily topical treatment, and plan to spend some time filing down the nail and removing bits which break off so that there is less thickness for the remedy to penetrate.
The athletes foot fungus (Tinea Pedis) will presumably clear up much faster than the nail infection due to the fact that the skin infection is casual and the treatment effortlessly contacts the fungus there. To overcome both types of foot fungus, however, you will have to keep up the treatment until the nails look normal as well. Nail fungal infections are nasty for the length of time they take to solve. If your athletes foot fungus is cured and there is any mark of recovery in the nails, the treatment is working. Keep it up and you will eventually certainly succeed.
